Swarthmore, PA – Stockton University (19-10) split its first two matches at the Swarthmore Garnet Classic. The Ospreys nipped DeSales (17-11) in five sets 15-25, 25-23, 19-25, 16-14 but then were swept by Catholic University in three close sets 25-21, 25-23, 25-22.
Idi Uffen (Williamstown/Williamstown) led Stockton to victory over the Bulldogs with 15 kills and seven blocks followed by
Lindsay Schuele (Sparta/Sparta) with nine kills and 13 digs.
Jessica Ciandella (Beachwood/Roselle Catholic) and
Kennedy Hubbard (Moorestown/Moorestown) dished 24 and 20 assists respectively.
Rebecka Zabilowicz (Belmar/Red Bank Regional) lifted a season-high 33 digs and
Kara Glynn (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) added a season-high 11 digs.
Stephanie Kovacs (Allentown, PA/Central Catholic) spiked 12 kills and Schuele contributed eight against Catholic. Ciandella handed out 19 assists and Hubbard distributed 17 helpers. Zabilowicz led the Ospreys with 13 digs.
Stockton will continue play at the Garnet Classic tomorrow with matches against Swarthmore at 11 a.m. and Scranton at 1 p.m.
