Stockton Ends Slide with 3-0 Shutout

Boxscore

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (7-8, 1-4 NJAC) got back in the win column for the first time in over a month with a 3-0 shutout of Ramapo (2-10, 0-5) that halted a seven-game slide. Laura Olbrich (Pittsgrove/A.P. Schalick) and Kellie Brining (Cherry Hill/CH West) scored in the first half. Freshman Jennelle Long (Matawan/Matawan) potted her first career goal in the second half.

Stockton pressured Ramapo throughout the first half and broke through with just under 10 minutes left. Olbrich went to the front of the net and tipped in a pass from the right wing by Jacquie Fenton (Ocean City/Ocean City) for a 1-0 lead. The goal was Olbrich's team-leading 11th of the season.

Just 2:40 later, a pass by Alexa Massa (Moorestown/Moorestown) found Brining in a crowd and the senior rolled a shot into the cage for her third marker of the year and a 2-0 advantage. The Ospreys racked up 14 penalty corners and nine shots in the first half while holding Ramapo with a single shot or corner.

In the second half, Massa sent a long blast ahead into the arc, where Long tipped it past the Ramapo goaltender for her first career tally. Massa registered her second assist of the game on the marker, which came with 18:09 remaining and clinched the 3-0 victory for the Ospreys.

Stockton goalkeeper Emily Sorochynskyj (Boonton/Boonton) needed to make just two saves to record her fifth shutout this year, which established a new school record for shutouts in a season. Ramapo starter Emily Wisneski made four saves in 61:18 and Emily Kramer added two stops in the last 8:42.

Stockton will continue its three-game homestand by hosting Stevens on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
