Stockton Pushes Winning Streak to Four

Boxscore

Jersey City, NJ – Stockton University (6-7-4, 3-3-2 NJAC) scored the first three goals of the game and extended its winning streak to four with a 3-1 victory over New Jersey City (8-9-1, 0-8). Anthony Colofranson (Woodbury Hts./Gateway) led the Ospreys with two goals and an assist.

Colofranson set up Nick Cristea (Medford/Shawnee) for his fourth goal of the season with 11:39 remaining in the first half. Cristea scored for the third consecutive game. Just 5:39 later, Colofranson netted his first marker, assisted by Erik Kretschmer (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) for a 2-0 lead. The assist was Kretschmer's first point of the season.

Colofranson wasted little time finding the net in the second half. Only 4:46 into the period, the senior volleyed home a free kick by freshman Kelly Blidi (Trenton/Trenton Catholic). The goal moved Colofranson within two of Hernan Maldonado's school record of 61 counters and Blidi registered his first career point with the assist.

Omar Ventura scored for New Jersey City with 30:54 remaining to end Stockton's shutout bid but the Ospreys nailed down the game by holding NJCU to just four shots, none on goal, the rest of the way. The 3-1 triumph boosted Stockton's winning streak to four.

The Ospreys outshot NJCU 16-9 and freshman goalkeeper Michael Lescano (Union/St. Benedict's Prep) made one save to earn the victory. Adam Cassidy registered eight stops for the Gothic Knights.

Stockton will play its regular season finale on Wednesday when the Ospreys host Rutgers-Camden at 7 p.m.
