Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (12-6-2, 5-3-1 NJAC) clinched a home game for the first round of the NJAC Tournament with a 1-0 victory over Rutgers-Camden (4-10-2, 2-7) in the regular season finale. With the win, the Ospreys earned the No. 4 seed for the NJAC playoffs and will host No. 5 Kean on Saturday at 3 p.m.
The Ospreys peppered Rutgers-Camden with 27 shots and generated numerous scoring chances. After a scoreless first half in which Stockton outshot the Scarlet Raptors 16-4, the Ospreys finally broke through in the second stanza.
Abigayle Musto (Wall Twp./Wall) scored her fourth goal of the season with 30:16 remaining in the game. Musto potted the marker with assists by
Adrianna Boucher (Hamilton/Steinert) and
Jill DiBlasi (Atco/Hammonton). The assists gave Boucher and DiBlasi each three-game point streaks. DiBlasi has nine points and Boucher has seven during that span.
Stockton goalkeeper
Nicole Pallante (Brick/Brick Twp.) made three saves to earn her seventh shutout of the season. Katie Gurba made 11 stops for Rutgers-Camden.
Stockton will host Kean on Saturday at 3 p.m. in the first round of the NJAC tournament. The teams are meeting in the opening round of the NJAC playoffs for the third time in four years. Stockton won 4-0 in 2013 and 1-0 last year. The Ospreys also topped the Cougars 3-1 in this year's regular season matchup.
