Galloway, NJ – No. 4 seed Stockton University (12-7-2) was ousted from the NJAC Tournament with a frustrating 1-0 loss to No. 5 seed Kean University (12-7). The Ospreys outshot Kean 10-7 and had the only four corner kicks in the game but could not covert any of their scoring chances.
Abigayle Musto (Wall Twp/Wall),
Alexa Fama (Linwood/Mainland),
Emily Frazee (Port Republic/Cedar Creek) and
Jill DiBlasi (Atco/Hammonton) registered two shots apiece for Stockton. Goalkeeper
Nicole Pallante (Brick/Brick Twp.) made one save in the match.
Kean took advantage of its best scoring chance of the day as Allison Coca scored 23:05 into the game. The Cougars limited Stockton to two corner kicks and one shot the rest of the first half. Stockton dialed up the pressure in the second half with seven shots but only one was on goal.
The Ospreys nearly tied it in the final minute as they worked the ball down below the penalty spot. A shot by DiBlasi was smothered by Kean goalie Lauren Healey who was standing only about a yard away. The rebound came right back to DiBlasi but she was unable to get a good piece of the bouncing ball and her second try floated over the crossbar.
Stockton, which was shut out for just the fourth time in 21 games this season, is in contention for a berth to the ECAC tournament. The ECAC bracket will be revealed on November 7.
