Edwardsville, PA – Stockton University (8-3-1) scored the first and last goals of the game to slip past Wilkes University (2-8) 2-1 in a non-conference road contest. Freshman
Emily Frazee (Port Republic/Cedar Creek) and
Lindsey Thomas (Swedesboro/Kingsway) each netted a goal for the Ospreys.
Frazee scored her second goal of the season late in the first half and Stockton led 1-0 at the break. The lead lasted until the 54th minute when Dianna Connor knotted the game at 1-1 for the Colonels. Stockton answered just 4:48 later as Thomas booted her fourth marker of the season to put the Osprey on top 2-1 with 32:03 still on the clock.
Wilkes nearly tied it again less than three minutes later on a shot that was knocked away by a Stockton field player to preserve the one-goal lead. The Colonels then registered seven shots in the last 29 minutes but Stockton goalkeeper
Nicole Pallante (Brick/Brick Twp.) stopped the only two that were on goal and the rest sailed either high or wide.
Pallante finished with six saves to earn the win between the posts. Stockton outshot Wilkes 17-14 and held an 8-2 advantage on corner kicks in the match.
Stockton returns home to host Rutgers-Newark in an NJAC game on Saturday at 2 p.m.
