Boxscore

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (1-1, 0-1 NJAC) fought back from a 16-point deficit to tie the game late but came up a point short in a 101-100 setback to Rowan University (3-1, 1-0 NJAC). The game was the first in which Stockton and its opponent both reached the 100-point mark since January 18, 2006 (110-106 loss to Ramapo in 2OT).

Four Ospreys reached double figures led by Khaliq Ford (Millville/Millville) with a game-high 27 points in his second game in a Stockton uniform. Brandon Hamilton (Camden/Paulsboro), another newcomer, scored 22 points. Zavon Johnson (Trenton/West Windsor Plainsboro South) tied his career high with 12 points and Marcus Harmon (Whitesboro/Middle Twp.) also scored 12 points.

Ford tallied seven points in the first eight minutes to spark Stockton to a 23-13 lead. The Rowan offense heated up later in the half and Profs surged ahead 50-36 before the half ended with the Ospreys trailing 52-39. Ford and freshman Steve Ferebee (Galloway/Abesgami) paced the Ospreys with nine points apiece off the bench.

Stockton's deficit reached 16 at 64-48 with 4:10 gone in the second half. Hamilton scored 10 points during an 18-5 run that pulled the Ospreys within 69-66 with 11:24 remaining. The Ospreys shaved the margin to two on a three-pointer by Harmon with 8:08 on the clock (78-76) and again on two free throws by Harmon at the 6:55 mark (82-80) but could not overtake Rowan.

Ford later scored six straight points as Stockton finally tied the game 96-96 with 1:46 to play. Hamilton answered a Rowan basket with one of his own for a 98-98 deadlock at the 49-second mark. Rowan's Shawn Wilson scored the next three points of the game on free throws and Stockton fell 101-100 after a layup by Ford in the final seconds.

Freshman Jeff Haddock went 7-10 from three-point range and finished with 22 points for Rowan. Wilson tossed in 21 markers and Rob DePersia added 18 points for the Profs, who snapped a 17-game losing streak to Stockton.

Stockton will be home again on Monday, November 28 when the Ospreys host Delaware Valley in a non-conference game at 7 p.m.
