BoxscoreCamden, NJ – Stockton University (16-5, 11-3 NJAC) never trailed on the way to a 71-50 conference victory over Rutgers-Camden (2-18, 1-3) that was the seventh consecutive win for the Ospreys. Stockton shot 40.7 percent from three-point range, sinking 11 treys that accounted for nearly half of their points in the game.
Armin Cane (Pleasantville/Pleasantville) led the Ospreys with a game-high 21 points for his ninth 20-point performance of the season. Cane went 6-8 from the field, including a blistering 5-6 from beyond the arc, and a perfect 4-4 at the line.
Jaymere Hadden (Millville/Millville) and
Marcus Harmon (Whitesboro/Middle Twp.) chipped in with 12 and 10 points respectively.
Cane scored seven early points as Stockton raced out to a 15-4 lead in the first six-and-a-half minutes. Rutgers-Camden fought back to within one with a 15-5 run before the Ospreys seized control for good.
Zavon Johnson (Trenton/West Windsor-Plainsboro South) tallied the first four points of a 10-1 spurt that made it 30-20 on the way to a 35-25 Stockton advantage at the break.
Cane poured in eight more points in the first 2:36 of the second half as the Ospreys upped the lead to 48-27. Stockton led by at least 16 points the rest of the way and as many as 30 at 71-41 after a three-pointer by Johnson with 4:02 remaining. All 12 Ospreys in uniform played at least four minutes and nine scored as Stockton rolled to the 71-50 rout.
Stockton concludes a busy stretch of four games in eight days on Saturday when the Ospreys host Ramapo at 1 p.m.
