Game 2Auburndale, FL – Stockton University (0-5) began its spring trip to Florida with a pair of setbacks to unbeaten McDaniel College (8-0) by scores of 8-7 and 11-3.
Vaughn Champion (Galloway/Absegami) paced the Ospreys with four hits on the day.
Champion went 3-5 with two RBI, a run and a stolen base in the first game.
Bryce DiPaola (Eastampton/Rancocas Valley) was 2-3 with a run and an RBI.
Stockton led 6-2 after three innings but McDaniel surged ahead 7-6 with five runs in the bottom of the sixth. An RBI single by DiPaola in the top of the seventh scored
Nick LaPorta (Pompton Plains/Pequannock) to tie the game 7-7. McDaniel prevailed 8-7 on a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh.
In game two, DiPaola went 2-3 while Champion was 1-3 with two runs scored. The Ospreys fell behind 7-0 in the first two innings and could not recover from the early deficit.
Stockton will play a single game against Rensselaer in Winter Haven tomorrow.
