UW-Stevens Point BoxscoreClermont, FL – Stockton University (6-2) saw the bats come alive as the Ospreys swept two games with wins over Bates 7-3 and Wisconsin-Stevens Point (2-6) 14-6 in five innings. Stockton totaled 20 hits and 21 runs in the two victories.
Gianna Cuffari (Cedar Grove/Cedar Grove) continued her torrid hitting by going a perfect 4-4 at the plate, scoring four times and driving in four runs.

In the opener against Bates, freshman
Victoria Torp (West Milford/West Milford) took the ball in the circle and promptly gave up a homer in the first inning. Torp then settled down until the Osprey bats came alive. A two-out rally gave Stockton the lead at 2-1 in the second inning when
Dominique Dorris (Mantua/Clearview) doubled,
Casey Schieda (Monroe Twp./Monroe Twp) reached on an error, then both runners scored on a
Nicole Tomo (Cedar Grove/Cedar Grove) single.

Stockton tacked on another run in the bottom of the fifth as Cuffari singled and eventually came around to score on an error to make it 3-1. The Bobcats tied the game 3-3 the next inning, plating two runs on four hits. Tomo threw out the potential go-ahead run
at the plate from center field to end the inning. The Ospreys took over in the final inning, scoring four times on three hits and a rare two-RBI sacrifice fly by Cuffari to set the final score at 7-3 in favor of the Ospreys.

Torp ran her record to 3-1 with six strong innings, giving up five hits, one earned run and whiffing five without walking a batter.
Samantha Shockey (Deptford/Deptford) tossed the last inning to preserve the victory.

Game two was a slugfest from the beginning against Stevens Point. The Pointers plated four runs in the first inning to run out to a quick 4-0 lead. The Ospreys came roaring back with four runs apiece in the second and third innings for an 8-4 advantage.
The Pointers scored twice in the third inning before
Hannah Bibeault (Hopatcong/Hopatcong) came on to shut the door, but the lead was cut to 8-6 in favor of the Ospreys.

After a scoreless fourth inning, Stockton exploded for six runs on three hits and two errors by Stevens Point
in the top of the fifth inning. The big blows in the frame came from
Catherine Wunder (Clinton/North Hunterdon), who blasted her first career home run, and RBI by Cuffari,
Danielle Lugo (Vineland/Vineland) and Dorris to end the game in five innings at 14-6.
Wunder rapped three hits and registered three RBI while Cuffari, Lugo and Shockey eachhad two base knocks. Lugo also had three RBI while Cuffari and Shockey knocked in two runners each. Bibeault earned her second win of the year with 2.1 innings of scoreless relief.

Stockton will finish up their 10-game spring trip tomorrow when they face Keene State at 1 p.m. then take on Elmhurst College in the finale at 3 p.m.
