BoxscoreGalloway – Stockton University (6-0) remained unbeaten on the season with a 12-6 victory over Elizabethtown (3-4). Freshman
Sarah Frankovic (Long Valley/West Morris Central) continued her impressive rookie campaign by leading the Ospreys with three goals and an assist.
Brianna Rolke (Berlin/Eastern) tossed in three goals followed by
Kim Raichelson (Brick/Brick Memorial) with two goals and an assist. Stockton outshot the Blue Jays 30-18 and committed just nine turnovers, their lowest total in a game this season.
Frankovic opened the scoring 2:08 into the match and assisted on a goal by Rolke 55 seconds later for a 2-0 lead. Elizabethtown took just 1:02 to get one back but Stockton answered with four straight goals to break the game open.
Colleen Knight (Pennsauken/Camden Catholic) started the outburst with her first tally of the year and markers by Frankovic, Raichelson and Rolke followed to make it 6-1.
The Blue Jays trimmed the margin to 6-3 with two goals 26 seconds apart before Raichelson later scored with 33 ticks left in the first half for a 7-3 advantage at the break. Stockton generated numerous scoring chances in the period but Elizabethtown goalkeeper Abby Kopytko made eight saves to keep her team in the game.
Frankovic opened the scoring in the second half with free-position goal 1:44 into the stanza and Elizabethtown answered to get within four for the last time at 8-4. Rolke and
Sarah Brenner (Jackson/Jackson Memorial) gave the Ospreys some breathing room with back-to-back counters that boosted the margin to six at 10-4.
The teams each scored twice in the last 14 minutes, with
Mary Schmid (Lumberton/Holy Cross) and
Kelsey Perst (Blairstown/North Warren) potting goals for the Ospreys as they cruised down the stretch for the 12-6 triumph.
Stockton goalkeeper
Mary Stornes (Galloway/Absegami) improved to 6-0 on the season with eight saves for the win. Rolke and
Melanie Patterson (Jackson/Jackson Liberty) each snagged three draw controls.
Kopytko finished with 12 saves in the game for Elizabethtown. Dana Robidoux paced the Blue Jays on offense with three goals.
Stockton will have a 10-day break before their next game, which will be at home against Drew University on March 29 at 7 p.m.
