BoxscoreGalloway, NJ – Stockton University (7-0) ended a five-game homestand with an 11-7 victory over Drew University (2-7) on Tuesday night.
Lauren Ivancich (Beach Haven/Southern) and
Skyler Mahoney-Kendra (Tinton Falls/St. John Vianney) led the way for the Ospreys with three goals each.
The Rangers got off to a fast start, potting the first two scores of the contest for a quick 2-0 lead. The advantage did not last long as Ivancich and
Sarah Frankovic (Long Valley/West Morris) tallied goals just 35 seconds apart to knot the game at 2-2 with 22:38 left in the first half.
Sarah Brenner (Jackson/Jackson Memorial) assisted on Frankovic's 23rd marker of the season.
Stockton kept up the onslaught as
Kim Raichelson (Brick/Brick Memorial) sandwiched two goals around another Ivancich score, before Mahoney-Kendra finished out the half with her first goal of the game. The tally with just 12 seconds remaining before halftime increased the margin to 6-2 in favor of the Ospreys at the break.
Drew began the second half much like the first stanza, scoring twice in a span of 1:09 to cut the Stockton lead to 6-4 at the 23:16 mark. Ivancich tallied her third goal of the game but the Rangers responded with one of their own to make it 7-5.
The Ospreys put the game away by scoring the next four markers.
Carissa Genzo (Robbinsville/Robbinsville) started the run followed by two from Mahoney-Kendra and one by
Brianna Rolke (Berlin/Eastern) to put Stockton comfortably ahead 11-5. The Rangers closed out the scoring with two markers in the last 1:56 before the Ospreys closed out the 11-7 victory.
In addition to Ivancich and Mahoney-Kendra, Raichelson hit the net twice and Brenner dished a game-high three assists.
Mary Stornes (Galloway/Absegami) picked up her seventh win of the season in net, making three saves.
Mary Schmid (Lumberton/Holy Cross) scooped three ground balls and
Kelsey Perst (Blairstown/North Warren) notched three caused turnovers for the defense.
Morgan Mason led the Rangers with three goals, with teammate Juliana Strazulo adding a goal and two assists. Netminder Miranda Czymek made four saves for Drew in the loss.
Stockton will begin a four-game road trip on Thursday when they will travel to Hoboken, NJ, to face Stevens at 4 p.m.
