BoxscoreCenter Valley, PA – Stockton University (7-1) scored six goals in the second quarter and galloped to a 13-7 triumph over DeSales (0-7) that was the fifth straight win for the Ospreys.
Mark Scherzer (Holmdel/Holmdel) netted a game-high three goals to lead the offense.
Tommy Gallo (Clinton/North Hunterdon) led all players with four points on two goals and two assists while
Vincent Manasia (Clark/Arthur L. Johnson) chipped in with two goals and an assist. Nine Ospreys scored goals in the game and
Tyler Bollard (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) dominated the faceoff dot, winning 20 of 23 draws and scooping a game-high 14 ground balls.
DeSales scored the only goal of the first quarter before Stockton exploded for five straight to begin the second period. Manasia and Scherzer got the barrage started in the first minute with markers just 18 seconds apart. Gallo scored next followed by the first goal of the season from
Tyler Van Benschoten (Saddle Brook/St. Joseph Regional).
Guy Loggi (Somers Point/Mainland) made it 5-1 with an assist by Gallo 49 seconds later. Gallo scored in between two DeSales counters and the Ospreys led 6-3 at the half.
Manasia potted a man-up goal just eight seconds into the third quarter but the Bulldogs responded with a tally of their own. Stockton took only nine seconds to respond as Bollard won the ensuing faceoff and fed
Chris Holleritter (Oak Ridge/Jefferson Twp.) for his second of the year and an 8-4 advantage. Scherzer followed to make it 9-4 and Stockton led 9-5 entering the fourth quarter.
The Ospreys put the game out of reach with three goals in a span of 51 seconds.

James O'Donnell (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) and
Mike Caposella (Wayne/DePaul Catholic) scored as Stockton extended the margin to seven, 12-5. The Ospreys cruised from there, with Scherzer tossing in one more goal in the 13-7 victory.
