Boxscore

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (7-2) saw their five-game winning streak come to a halt with a 10-7 defeat to Eastern University (5-4) on Wednesday night. The Eagles rattled off five goals in the final period to erase a two-goal Stockton advantage and down the Ospreys. Mike Caposella (Wayne/DePaul Catholic) and Tommy Gallo (Clinton/North Hunterdon) led Stockton with two goals each.

The tightly-contested game was tied six times. Jake Billera scored two markers in the first period to offset Caposella's first tally and Stockton trailed 2-1 after one quarter. Gallo assisted on Caposella's 15th goal of the season.

The Ospreys evened the score in the second quarter as Zack Aho (Shamong/Seneca) and Gallo, assisted by Aho, sandwiched two markers around one Eagles' score to help Stockton knot the game at 3-3 at the break.

After falling behind 4-3 early in the third quarter, the Ospreys took their first lead of the contest with three straight goals. Guy Loggi (Somers Point/Mainland) started the run and counters by Vincent Manasia (Clark/Arthur L. Johnson) and Caposella followed to put the Stockton on top 6-4. James O'Donnell (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) assisted on two of the three markers.

Eastern got one back on Billera's third tally of the game with 1:07 left in the quarter and the Ospreys held a slim 6-5 edge entering the fourth stanza. The Eagles scored twice in the first six minutes to regain the lead 7-6 but Gallo pulled Stockton into a 7-7 tie with 7:39 remaining. Eastern followed with three straight tallies in the last six minutes to deal the Ospreys the 10-7 defeat.

In addition to his two goals, Gallo also dished an assist to finish with a team-high three points. Stockton goalkeeper Pat Quinn (Shrewsbury/Red Bank Regional) made nine saves but suffered the loss in net. Tyler Bollard (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) won 14 of 21 faceoffs and led all players with nine ground balls.

Billera scored four times for the Eagles while teammates Mark Buannic, Desmond Decker and Tim Lamb hit the net twice each. Jake Pousson dished two assists and netminder Jameal Hadeed made eight saves in earning his fifth win of the year for Eastern.
