Big First Half Sends Stockton to 13-5 Win

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (12-2, 3-1 NJAC) scored eight goals in the first half and cruised to a 13-5 victory over Rutgers-Camden (6-6, 0-3 NJAC) on Tuesday night. Lauren Ivancich (Beach Haven/Southern) potted five goals and dished an assist for six points on the night. Stockton increased their single-season wins record to 12 with the victory.
 
Ivancich got the Ospreys off and running with the first two goals of the game for a 2-0 lead at 25:41. Stockton tallied three more scores in a span of 3:06 to give the home team a 5-0 advantage. A marker by Kim Raichelson (Brick/Brick Memorial) and two by freshman Sarah Frankovic (Long Valley/West Morris Central) stretched the advantage to five.
 
Natalie DiCarlo cut the margin to 5-1 for the Scarlet Raptors before Stockton closed the half with three more counters. Freshman Carissa Genzo (Robbinsville/Robbinsville) scored twice while Ivancich picked up her third of the night to give Stockton an 8-1 lead at the break. Raichelson and Frankovic dished assists on two of the tallies.
 
The Ospreys put the game away with three more scores in a 2:54 span to open the scoring in the second half. Starting at 25:48, Raichelson, assisted by Ivancich, and then two goals from Ivancich pushed the lead to 11-1 in favor of Stockton with 22:54 remaining.
 
Rutgers-Camden scored three times in the last 18 minutes to offset markers by Gaby Ojeda (Galloway/Absegami) and Frankovic as the Ospreys coasted to the 13-5 win.
 
In addition to Ivancich's big night, Frankovic scored three goals, with Genzo and Raichelson picking up two markers each for Stockton. Raichelson also topped the squad with two assists. Heather Malosky (Branchburg/Immaculata) caused two turnovers while Sarah Brenner (Jackson/Jackson Memorial) topped Stockton by scooping four ground balls.
 
Stockton goalkeeper Mary Stornes (Galloway/Absegami) picked up her 12th win of the season, making seven saves in the first 45:16 before giving way to Maura Twiggs (Ocean City/Ocean City). Twiggs finished up the game by kicking out two shots in the last 14:44 of play.
 
Nicole Martin led the Scarlet Raptors with two goals and an assist. Netminder Alexa Rocks took the loss, making seven saves in the contest.
 
Stockton's next game will be an NJA road contest at Montclair State on Saturday at 3 p.m.
