Old Westbury, NY – Stockton University (9-1) built an early lead and coasted to a 20-3 victory over Old Westbury (3-6) in the third of four straight road games for the Ospreys. Ten Stockton players scored goals in the match, led by
Kim Raichelson (Brick/Brick Memorial) with four.
Lauren Ivancich (Beach Haven/Southern Regional) and
Brianna Rolke (Berlin/Eastern) netted three goals apiece.
Sarah Frankovic (Long Valley/West Morris) tallied seven points on a goal and six assists while
Carissa Genzo (Robbinsville/Robbinsville) contributed two goals and five assists for seven points as well.
Raichelson opened the scoring just 23 seconds into the game but Old Westbury answered for a 1-1 tie.
Melanie Patterson (Jackson/Jackson Liberty) gave the Ospreys the lead for good with the first of her two goals and Rolke followed with three straight counters, the last two of which came only seven seconds apart and increased the lead to 5-1.
Stockton continued a run of 10 straight goals with one tally apiece by Genzo, Patterson, Ivancich, Frankovic and
Skyler Mahoney-Kendra (Tinton Falls/St. John Vianney) for a 10-1 advantage. After the Panthers halted the scoring streak,
Kelsey Perst (Blairstown/North Warren) potted the first of her two goals and Raichelson scored with eight seconds left in the first half for a 12-2 lead at the break.
Genzo, Raichelson and Ivancich scored in the first three minutes of the second half to make it 15-2. Stockton later closed out the 20-3 rout with five goals in the last 19 minutes including the first career marker by freshman defender
Tamara Torales (Basking Ridge/Ridge) and a tally by
Colleen Knight (Pennsauken/Camden Catholic) with 18 seconds to play.
Stockton goalkeeper
Mary Stornes (Galloway/Absegami) earned the win with two saves in the first half. Freshman goalie
Maura Twiggs (Ocean City/Ocean City) played the second half and made one save. In addition to her late goal, Knight notched seven ground balls, five caused turnovers and four draw controls.
Stockton will play its NJAC opener on Saturday when the Ospreys visit Ramapo for a 1 p.m. matchup.
