Ewing, NJ – Stockton University (3-15, 0-3 NJAC) played its first game in nearly a week and suffered a 7-0 defeat to The College of New Jersey (16-4, 1-2) in an NJAC road game. The Ospreys rapped three hits and drew eight walks in the game.
Dan Sweeney (Middletown/Middletown South) went 2-4 with a double and
Stephen Struble (Hammonton/Hammonton) was 1-3.
Vaughn Champion (Galloway/Absegami) walked three times and
Zach Gustites (Flemington/Hunterdon Central) walked twice for the Ospreys.
TCNJ raced ahead early with four runs in the first inning. The Lions added single runs in the second, fourth and eighth frames. Stockton's best scoring chance came in the fifth inning.
Antonio Morello (Washington Twp./Washington Twp.) led off by reaching on an error. With two out, Sweeney singled and Champion walked to load the bases, but a fielder's choice ended the inning.
Sweeney led off the eighth inning with a double, however the Ospreys came up empty and were blanked 7-0. Stockton used four pitchers in the game, with
Ryan Adamski (Deptford/Deptford) the most effective as he tossed two scoreless relief innings and fanned two without allowing a hit.
Stockton's home doubleheader against fourth-ranked Ramapo has been postponed for tomorrow and rescheduled for Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
