Stockton Advances to Skyline Championship Game

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (14-3) advanced to their second straight Skyline Conference championship game with a thrilling 10-9 victory over Farmingdale State (12-5) on Wednesday night. The victory was the sixth straight for the Ospreys and set a new school record with 14 wins on the season. Vincent Manasia (Clark/Arthur L. Johnson) led the way for Stockton with three goals on the night.
 
The Ospreys fell behind 1-0 in the first minute but rebounded to take a 3-2 lead after one period on tallies by Mike Caposella (Wayne/DePaul Catholic), Guy Loggi (Somers Point/Mainland) and Tommy Gallo (Clinton/North Hunterdon). Mike Drumm (Fairfield/West Essex) dished the assist on Caposella's goal, with Colin Shea (Rumson/Rumson-Fair Haven) adding the helper on Gallo's first goal of the night.
 
Manasia scored his first goal of the contest, on an assist from Caposella, for a 4-2 lead 42 seconds into the second quarter. James O'Donnell (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) followed with a marker just 1:24 later for a 5-2 advantage before the Rams cut the lead to 5-3. Manasia, from Gallo, gave the Ospreys a 6-3 margin at the break.
 
Farmingdale State came out firing in the third period, scoring four times in a span of 2:29 to take their first lead of the night at 7-6 with 10:45 remaining in the quarter. Shea knotted the game at 7-7 for the second of six ties on the night before the Rams netted their last tally of the quarter for an 8-7 lead that setting up the thrilling finish.
 
Caposella and Manasia put Stockton back on top 9-8 with goals 1:16 apart but the Rams tied the contest for the final time at 9-9 just 1:30 later with 10:13 to play. The game remained deadlocked for five-and-a-half minutes until Gallo scored the eventual game-winner on a Loggi assist with 4:43 left.
 
The Rams applied some pressure late but Stockton goalkeeper Pat Quinn (Shrewsbury/Red Bank Regional) made a key save with 43 seconds left. Freshman Ryan Bradley (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) then intercepted a Rams' pass with six ticks on the clock to seal the game, sending Stockton to their second consecutive Skyline championship game and setting the school win record with the 10-9 triumph.
 
Gallo scored twice and dished two assists for a four-point night, with Caposella adding two counters. Drumm dished two assists to aid the offense. Tyler Bollard (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) won 17 of 22 faceoffs and led all players with 12 ground balls. Quinn kicked out 10 shots in earning his 14th win of the season.
 
Mike Curry topped the Rams with three goal and two assists for five points on the night. Teammate Conor Pittard added two markers. Goalkeeper Thomas Fallon made six saves in net.
 
Stockton will travel to No. 1 Montclair State on Saturday for the Skyline championship game at 1 p.m.
