Ewing, NJ – Stockton University (12-5) played its first NJAC tournament game in the program's three-year history but fell to second-ranked The College of New Jersey (17-1) 15-2 in the conference semifinals. The game was the second between the two teams in eight days.
Sarah Frankovic (Long Valley/West Morris Central) and
Colleen Knight (Pennsauken/Camden Catholic) scored one goal apiece for the Ospreys.
Stockton struggled to keep pace with the Lions, falling behind 9-0 in the first half as the Ospreys were outshot 22-2 during the stanza. Stockton scored the first goal of the second half on Frankovic's 48th tally of the season, assisted by
Lauren Ivancich (Beach Haven/Southern Regional).
TCNJ reeled off five more goals before Knight tallied her fourth goal of the year, unassisted, with 8:13 remaining. The Lions added one more counter with 4:20 to play and downed Stockton 15-2.
Senior goalkeeper
Mary Stornes (Galloway/Absegami) made eight saves and scooped a team-high four ground balls for the Ospreys. Freshman
Tamara Torales (Basking Ridge/Ridge) caused two turnovers while Knight added one ground ball one caused turnover to go with her goal.
Megan Devlin scored five goals and dished an assist for the Lions. Erin Waller tallied three scores, with Amanda Muller dishing four assists. Freshman goalkeeper Miranda Chrone earned her 17th win of the season without making a save.
Stockton will now wait to see if they receive an invitation to the ECAC tournament next week.
