Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (4-1) scored three times in the second half and cruised to a 4-0 win over DeSales (1-4) on Tuesday night.
Laura Olbrich (Pittsgrove/A.P. Schalick) scored two goals and added an assist to lead the Ospreys, who peppered DeSales with 20 shots, including 13 on net on the evening. The contest was the final match of a three-game home stand for Stockton.
Olbrich got the Ospreys off and running just 3:21 into the contest when she tapped in a cross from
Leah Davies (Ocean City/Ocean City) for a 1-0 advantage. Despite being outshot 11-2 during the first half, the Bulldogs were able to hold Stockton to just the one tally in the half.
Stockton exploded for three markers to salt the game away in the second half.
Victoria Caiazzo (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) scored on a rebound off an
Alexa Massa (Moorestown/Moorestown) shot to make it 2-0 at the 40:27 mark.
Massa scored less than five minutes later when she blasted a goal off an Olbrich penalty corner for the 3-0 margin. Olbrich ended the scoring at 55:48 with her fourth goal of the season when she hit the back of the cage off a scrum in front to set the final score at 4-0 in favor of the home team.
The Ospreys held a 20-4 shots advantage, along with 16-6 margin in penalty corners on the evening in a dominant offensive performance.
Stockton goalkeeper
Emily Sorochynskyj (Boonton/Boonton) earned the win, posting her third shutout of the season by making just two saves on the night. She now moves into third place all-time at Stockton in shutouts with five in her career. Katarina Polyviou made nine saves in net for the Bulldogs as her record dropped to 1-4 on the season.
Stockton will take to the road for their next three matches, beginning on Thursday night when the Ospreys travel to Wesley College. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
