Dover, DE – Stockton University (5-1) produced its highest goal total in the last 26 games and rolled to a 6-0 victory over Wesley (1-5).
Emily McNeill (Blackwood/Paul VI), who entered the game with only one career goal, scored twice to lead the Ospreys.
Kellie Brining (Cherry Hill/CH West) contributed a goal and two assists while
Laura Olbrich (Pittsgrove/A.P. Schalick) added a goal and an assist. Stockton outshot Wesley 22-7 in the game.
McNeill scored the only goal of the first half just 3:43 into the game as she tapped in a centering pass from Brining to give the Ospreys the early lead. The goal was McNeill's first since the 2014 season.
The Ospreys broke the game open with five goals in the second half. McNeill started the barrage with 3:34 gone, taking a feed from Olbrich and potting her second marker of the game.
Olbrich scored on a rebound at 50:33 to make it 3-0 and
Sarah Gawrysiak (Haddon Twp./Haddon Twp.) later scored on a breakaway with 4:34 remaining for a 4-0 advantage. Less than two minutes after Gawrysiak's goal, Brining stole the ball, stickhandled through the Wesley defense and tallied her first goal of the season.
Sophomore
Samantha Barone (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) netted her first career goal with 37 seconds remaining to cap the 6-0 rout. Barone one-timed a pass from Brining for the marker.
Stockton goalkeeper
Emily Sorochynskyj (Boonton/Boonton) made four saves for her fourth shutout of the season, tying the school record set by Caitlin Nolan in 2006.
Jacquie Fenton (Ocean City/Ocean City) helped preserve the shutout with a defensive save.
Stockton will continue a three-game road trip with a match at Goucher College (MD) on Saturday at 1 p.m.
