Dan Marino (Turnersville/Washington Twp.) scored his first career goal with 41 seconds remaining in regulation, as Stockton University (2-4-3, 0-1-1 NJAC) held off Ramapo College (7-0-1, 1-0-1 NJAC) to forge a 1-1 on Saturday afternoon. It was the third draw of the season for Stockton.
Neither team could hit the net during the first period, as scoring opportunities were hard to come by for both squads. The Roadrunners broke the scoreless affair at 52:43 of the second half, when Justin Olaya headed in a marker off a feed from Jorge Castro for the 1-0 advantage.
Stockton pressed to square the match, until Marino's marker at 89:19 tied the contest at 1-1.
Alex Kourahanis (Sicklerville/Timber Creek) passed to Marino who knotted the contest and sent the game to extra frames.
Stockton's
Nick Cristea (Medford/Shawnee) in the first overtime and
Drew Ruble (Medford/Shawnee) in the second extra period, each had a chance to score, but could not find the net. Ramapo fired two shots on net but were turned away by goalkeeper
Michael Lescano (Union/St. Benedict's Prep) and the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
Lescano tied his career-high with nine saves in earning his third tie of the season for Stockton. Roadrunners net minder Ryan Sprague kicked out seven Osprey shots.
Stockton's next match will a home affair on Wednesday night when the Ospreys will face off against Rowan University. Game time is scheduled for 8 pm.
