Stockton Plays 0-0 Draw with #5 Rowan

Boxscore

Galloway, NJ – In a spirited game played in a heavy drizzle, Stockton University (2-4-4, 0-1-2 NJAC) and unbeaten #5 Rowan University (9-0-1, 2-0-1) battled to a 0-0 tie on Wednesday night. The Profs outshot Stockton 29-12 and held a 17-1 advantage on corner kicks, but the Ospreys squeezed off eight of their shots on net. Stockton goalkeeper Michael Lescano (Union/St. Benedict's Prep) earned his first career shutout for the Ospreys.

The teams went back and forth throughout regulation time without being able to penetrate the other squad's defense. The Profs had opportunities as did Stockton through the 90 minutes of play but could not break the scoreless affair.

The first overtime saw Rowan's Nick Schlageter fire a shot high to offset two by Anthony Colofranson (Woodbury Heights/Gateway) and one by Alex Kourahanis (Sicklerville/Timber Creek). One of Colofranson's shots was on net but kicked away and Kourahanis had a volley shot toward an open net that just missed the mark.

Lescano came up big for Stockton in the second OT as he made three saves to keep Rowan off the board. His counterpart Kyle Dennis also had to make a save to keep Colofranson from scoring the game-winner.

Lescano and Dennis equaled each other, making eight saves apiece in the match. The tie was Stockton's second straight and extended their advantage over Rowan to 3-0-1 in the last four meetings between the two teams.

Stockton will travel to Montclair State on Saturday. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
