Stockton Ties #11 Rowan 0-0

Boxscore

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (7-2-1, 2-0-1 NJAC) battled unbeaten #11 Rowan University (9-0-1, 2-0-1) to a 0-0 tie in an NJAC game at G. Larry James Stadium. Stockton goalkeeper Nicole Pallante (Brick/Brick Twp.) faced just one shot on goal and made the save to post her fourth shutout of the year.

The Ospreys were bidding to become the first team to score on Rowan this season. Stockton outshot the Profs by a slim 11-9 margin and doubled Rowan 4-2 on corner kicks but could not break through for a goal against Rowan keeper Shelby Money, who made four saves.

Defensively, the Stockton backline of Alexa Rubino (Voorhees/Eastern), Samantha Rodrigues (Clark/Arthur L. Johnson), Karleigh Niedt (Jackson/Jackson Memorial) and Colleen Collins (Sicklerville/Timber Creek) neutralized a Rowan offense that was averaging a league-leading 4.44 goals per game.

Stockton held a slim 5-4 edge in shots during a first half and survived a near-miss by Rowan's Sarah Rosenberg that hit the crossbar. The Ospreys outshot the Profs 4-2 in the second half and Rowan answered with a 3-2 advantage during the two overtime periods but neither team was able to find the back of the net and the game ended in a 0-0 draw.

Stockton will travel to Montclair State on Saturday for an NJAC game at 1 p.m.
