Stockton Shut Down in 2-0 Loss to NYU

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (7-10-1) saw their brief two-game winning skid come to a halt, as NYU (9-3-2) shutout the Ospreys 2-0 on Thursday evening. The Violets dominated the stat sheet, out shooting Stockton 11-3 with seven attempts on net, and closed out a three-game home stand for Stockton.

NYU got on the board halfway through the opening period, when Ashlyn Krygowski banked a shot off an Osprey defender and into the net for the 1-0 lead. The Violets held a 7-0 advantage in shots during the first stanza against the home team.

The Ospreys managed to get three shot attempts off in the last period with Michelle Sander (Ewing/Notre Dame) squeezing off two attempts and Emily Frazee (Port Republic/Cedar Creek) the other. Sander put the only shot on net on the night for Stockton.

Marquel Love added the insurance goal when she beat goalkeeper Nicole Pallante (Brick/Brick Twp.)
to a loose ball and scored in the 86th minute. The tally put the Violets up 2-0 and set the final score.

Pallante made five saves in net for Stockton, as the Ospreys were blanked for the 11th time this season. Sophia Danielsen earned her third win of the season for NYU making the one save on the evening.

Stockton will take to the road for their next game, as the Ospreys will travel to Jersey City to face New Jersey City University on Saturday afternoon. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 pm.
