Jersey City, NJ – Stockton University (8-10-1, 3-5 NJAC) boosted its chances to earn an NJAC playoff berth with a 1-0 road victory over New Jersey City (5-10, 2-6) in overtime.
Michelle Sander (Ewing/Notre Dame) scored the game-winner on a free kick.
Stockton received a free kick with just under two minutes left in the first OT as the New Jersey City goalkeeper touched the ball outside the box for a handball. Sander chipped a shot from just outside the top of the box into the upper left corner to lift the Ospreys to the 1-0 victory.
The win was the 800th in the history of the Stockton women's soccer program, which started in 1989. The Ospreys have a record of 400-158-52 for a .698 winning percentage in 29 seasons of intercollegiate competition.

Nicole Pallante (Brick/Brick Twp.) notched her fifth shutout of the season with five saves. The Ospreys held an 18-12 edge in shots, with most of their attempts coming after halftime.
Stockton was outshot 9-4 in the first half but the teams went into the break scoreless. The Ospreys took control in the second stanza with a 13-2 advantage in shots, but they could not put one into the net. After one shot by the Gothic Knights in overtime, Sander scored on Stockton's first shot of OT to win the game for the Ospreys.
Stockton will conclude the regular season with a home game against Rutgers-Camden on Wednesday at 7 pm.
