Stockton Downed on Late Goal by Ramapo

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (9-7, 1-4 NJAC) yielded a late goal to Ramapo (7-9, 2-3 NJAC) that resulted in a 3-2 setback for the Ospreys. Alexa Massa (Moorestown/Moorestown) scored both Stockton goals in the game.

Massa gave the Ospreys an early 1-0 lead just 1:52 into the game on a give-and-go with Leah Davies (Ocean City/Ocean City). Ramapo surged ahead 2-1 on tallies by Melissa Choka and Gianna Mouskourie just 2:11 apart. All three goals came in the first 10 minutes of the game.

Massa tied it 2-2 with 9:56 left in the first half by scoring her team-leading 13th goal of the season. The senior's 13 goals are tied for the third-highest season total in school history. Massa also moved into second all-time at Stockton for points in a season with 33.

Backup goalie Niya Calloway (Matawan/Matawan) came off the bench with 3:16 left in the first half and made a save on a penalty stroke to keep the game tied. Although Stockton outshot Ramapo 14-6 in the half, the score was tied 2-2 at the break.

Stockton stayed on the attack in the second half with a 12-6 shot advantage. Rebecca Bausher (New Egypt/New Egypt) nearly gave the Ospreys the lead early in the period but her scoring try was thwarted on a defensive save by a Ramapo defender.

With 8:31 remaining in regulation, Mouskourie scored her second marker of the game and the tally proved to be the difference as the Ospreys fell 3-2.

Stockton finished with a 26-12 shot margin, including 18-9 in shots on goal, but the Ospreys had difficulty converting against Emily Wisneski, who made 15 saves for the Roadrunners. Emily Sorochynskyj (Boonton/Boonton) registered five saves for Stockton.

Stockton will play its final regular season home game on Tuesday when the Ospreys host Goucher at 7 pm.
