Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (12-3-4) battled through 110 minutes and came away with a 1-1 draw against Eastern University (10-4-1) on Monday night.
Justin Ruiz (Wayne/Wayne Hills) tallied the only marker for the Ospreys in the evening, who played their last regular season home game.

The teams were evenly matched all night, until 39:12 of the first half. Ruiz gathered a pass and weaved his way around a defender, then fired a low blast to the far left corner for his fourth goal of the season, and a 1-0 lead. The defense made it hold through the rest of the stanza, out shooting the Eagles by a 7-2 margin.

The visitors knotted the contest in the 71st minute as Dennis Cosgrove headed in a corner kick from Colin Furlong to bring the game to a 1-1 stalemate. The Ospreys had an excellent opportunity to win the game in regulation with 56 seconds left.

Eucario Solano (Galloway/Absegami) volleyed a pass that found its way to
Larry Abanilla (Union/Union Catholic). His blast was kicked out by an Eagles defender to keep the contest knotted at 1-1, sending it to overtime. Stockton was able to fire off one shot during the first extra frame to no avail.

Eastern had their best chance to win the game in the final extra period. After a Stockton foul, Furlong fired a blast from 35 yards that sailed high with 2:30 remaining. The teams battled the rest of the way without scoring and came away with the 1-1 deadlock.

Kellen Groover (Florence/Life Center Academy) made three saves in net for the Ospreys, while his counterpart Quentin Keibler kicked out six Osprey attempts on the night.

Stockton will play their final regular season game, when they will travel to Rutgers-Camden on Wednesday night. Game time is set for 7:30 pm.
