Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (12-6, 3-2 NJAC) wrapped up a five-match homestand by rolling over William Paterson 3-0 for its fourth straight win. The set scores were 25-16, 25-4, 25-14 in favor of the Ospreys.
Stephanie Kovacs (Allentown, PA/Central Catholic) powered Stockton with 10 kills on 15 attacks for an outstanding .667 hitting percentage.
Kara Glynn (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) spiked eight kills followed by freshman
Julie Kohlhoff (West Islip, NY/West Islip) with a career-high seven kills.
Emily Sullivan (Bridgewater/Bridgewater-Raritan) dished 12 assists and served 10 aces, while another rookie,
Franceska Gustave (Edgewater/Leonia) contributed four kills and three blocks.
In the first set, two kills apiece by Glynn and Gustave highlighted a 6-1 run that propelled Stockton to a 13-6 lead. The Ospreys extended to 21-11 and took the opening frame 25-16 behind five kills by Kovacs.
Stockton reeled off the first 21 points of the second set. Sullivan served a whopping eight aces and Kohlhoff pounded five kills during the onslaught. Overall, the Ospreys tallied 13 kills in 19 attacks without an error in the 25-4 rout.
Stockton fell behind 6-2 at the start of the third set. The Ospreys roared back with a 9-1 run to pull ahead 11-7 and never looked back. Stockton later scored six straight points to make it 21-11 and eventually closed out the match by putting up the last three points for a 25-14 win.
Stockton has a few days off before facing Cabrini and Widener in a tri-match at Widener on Saturday. The match times are noon and 2 pm.
