Stockton Downed 2-0 by Wilkes

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (3-8-1) concluded a three-game homestand with a non-conference match against Wilkes University (7-1-2) at G. Larry James Stadium. The Ospreys yielded one goal in each half and were downed 2-0 by the Colonels.

The shots were 10-7 and corner kicks 3-2, both in favor of Wilkes. Stockton goalkeeper Nicole Pallante (Brick/Brick Twp.) made four saves, as did her counterpart Courtney Stanley at the opposite end. The seven shots overall and four shots on goal were the highest totals for the Ospreys in the last four games. Alexa Aldredge (Cranford/Cranford) topped Stockton with two shots.

The game was scoreless for the first 30 minutes before Wilkes broke through as Micaela Oliverio gave the Colonels a 1-0 edge. Salena LeDonne (Parsippany/Parsippany) nearly tied it for the Ospreys on a high shot from the top of the box with six minutes left in the first half, but Stanley leaped and knocked down the scoring try.

Just 9:25 into the second half, a foul in the box resulted in a Wilkes penalty kick. Ema Sabovic deposited her shot into the bottom left corner for a 2-0 count. Stockton generated five shots the rest of the way, including three on goal, but the Ospreys were unable to get on the board and fell 2-0.

Stockton will be on the road on Saturday for an NJAC game at Rutgers-Newark that kicks off at noon.
