Stockton Rolls over Rosemont 5-1

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (10-2-1) scored the first three goals of the game and rolled to a 5-1 victory over Rosemont (1-9-1) in a non-conference match at G. Larry James Stadium. Nick Cristea (Medford/Shawnee) led the Ospreys with two goals.
 
Darnell Lopez (Paterson/St. Benedict's Prep) opened the scoring just 5:47 into the contest, scoring for the second straight game. Dante Montesinos (West Long Branch/Shore Regional) made it 2-0 with 28:10 gone in the first half. Shots were 15-1 in favor of the Ospreys during the stanza, and they led 2-0 at the break.
 
With 7:26 gone in the second half, Cristea scored his first of the game, finishing a give-and-go with Alex Cella (Matawan/Matawan) for a 3-0 advantage. The assist was Cella's first point in a Stockton uniform. Will Boehmer got Rosemont on the board at 68:20 before the Ospreys sealed the win with two late goals.
 
Christian Bik (Vineland/St. Augustine Prep) found the net with 1:46 remaining and just 39 seconds later, Cristea added his team-leading sixth marker of the season with 1:07 on the clock to clinch the 5-1 victory for the Ospreys.
 
Starting goalkeeper Kellen Groover (Florence/Life Center) earned the win without facing a shot on goal in the first half. Michael Lescano (Union/St. Benedict's Prep) played the first 34:45 of the second half and made one save. Travis Yates (Washington Twp./Washington Twp.) went in for the last 10:15 and did not see a shot on goal. Sean Ianelli made nine saves for Rosemont, whom the Ospreys outshot 23-5.
 
Stockton will be right back in action tomorrow with a key NJAC home game against #13 Rutgers-Newark at 1 pm.
