Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (5-8-1) scored twice in the first half and cruised to a 3-0 win over College of Staten Island (8-5-1) on Monday night in a non-conference match up. Â
Mairead McKeary (Cranford/Cranford),
Emily Frazee (Port Republic/Cedar Creek) and
Alexa Chiaro (Cherry Hill/Cherry Hill West) tallied the markers for Stockton.
Â
McKeary got the scoring started when she nailed her second goal in two games for a 1-0 lead. She hit the net off a misplay by the Dolphins' goalkeeper and gave the Ospreys the early advantage at 7:07. A little more than five minutes later, Frazee scored her first marker of the year. She was able to dribble around the defense and hit the low corner for her first goal of the season and a 2-0 margin.
Â
The game would remain that way until the 77th minute when Chiaro took a nice centering pass from
Brenna Clowney (Mullica Hill/Clearview) for her first score of the season and set the final score at 3-0 in favor of the home team.
Â
The Ospreys dominated the play as they outshot the visitors 12-2. Staten Island fired their only two shots in the second half and was never able to mount any offense against the Ospreys.
Â
Goalkeeper
Nicole Pallante (Brick/Brick Twp.) made two saves in 80:07 of play before giving way to
Morgan Fair (Crownsville, MD/North County). Fair played the last 9:53 without having to make a save. Maraya Jones played the first half in net for Staten Island, making three saves. Kaila DiBenedetto finished up the last 45 minutes in net kicking out one shot.
Â
Stockton will return to NJAC Play on Wednesday night for their next contest. The Ospreys will face The College of New Jersey in Ewing with the game time set for 7pm.
