Stockton Starts Oregon Trip with 74-62 Victory

Newberg, OR – Stockton University (7-4) began its two-game trip to Oregon with a 74-62 victory over George Fox (4-4). After an eight-day layoff, Stockton notched its third straight win with a strong team effort that featured contributions from several players.
 
Kashaun Barnes (Toms River/Manchester Twp.) led the Ospreys with a game-high 23 points plus six rebounds while Steve Ferebee (Galloway/Absegami) netted 15 markers. Kelvin Tull (Millville/Millville) contributed career highs of 12 points and 16 rebounds for a double-double. Kevin Allen (Atlantic City/Atlantic City) grabbed a career-high 10 boards to go with six points.
 
Darius Jerkins (Somers Point/Mainland) snagged eight rebounds and Jordan Taylor (East Orange/Cicely Tyson) also established a career high with seven caroms. Overall, Stockton had a whopping 58-36 advantage on the glass, with 17 offensive boards leading to 16 second-chance points.
 
A day after traveling cross country, Stockton got off to a slow start and fell behind 9-2 before settling in. Ferebee sank two three-pointers and Barnes scored five points during a 16-3 run that propelled the Ospreys to an 18-12 lead.
 
After George Fox got within 23-22, Stockton used a 12-2 spurt to build a double-digit lead at 35-24. Barnes led the charge with seven points, sparking the Ospreys to a 39-30 advantage at the break with 14 first-half counters.
 
George Fox sliced the gap to four with three minutes gone in the second half but Stockton answered the challenge with six straight points to make it 47-37 with 15 minutes to go. The Ospreys led by at least five until pulling away late. Four points and three rebounds by Tull highlighted an 8-0 outburst that resulted in a 68-54 lead with 4:27 remaining, and Stockton cruised to the 74-62 triumph.
 
After a day off tomorrow, Stockton will play at Linfield College on Tuesday at 10 pm Eastern time.
