Stockton Dominates Second Half for 73-49 Win

Camden, NJ – Stockton University (11-9, 6-8 NJAC) outscored Rutgers-Camden (4-16, 1-13) 43-21 in the second half and rolled to a 73-49 victory in the Ospreys' third game in five days. Fourteen Stockton players scored points in the contest, including three in double figures.
 
Marcus Harmon (Whitesboro/Middle Twp.) continued his hot shooting, going 5-10 from the field including 3-5 from three-point range for a team-high 13 points. The 6-5 junior scored all of his points I the second half. Brandon Hamilton (Camden/Paulsboro) and Darius Jerkins (Somers Point/Mainland) chipped in with 10 points apiece.
 
Stockton trailed 18-8 with nine minutes gone in the game when Hamilton drained back-to-back three-pointers to bring the Osprey offense to life. Kashaun Barnes (Toms River/Manchester Twp.) converted a three-point play to put Stockton ahead 25-24 at the 2:47 mark and the Ospreys later led 30-28 at the break.
 
After the Scarlet Raptors scored the first basket of the second half for a 30-30 tie, Stockton unleashed a 17-point onslaught in just over five minutes. Harmon ignited the barrage with two straight three-pointers and added another later in the run. The Ospreys led 47-30 with 12:22 remaining and were not tested the rest of the way.
 
The margin ballooned all the way to 25 points on a Tom Catanoso (Cape May CH/Middle Twp.) three-pointer that made it 66-41 with 3:57 to play. The bench players got into the act from there as Stockton cruised to the 73-49 rout. The Ospreys shot 58.6 percent from the floor in the second half (17-29), including a blistering 6-9 (66.7%) from three-point range.
 
On Saturday, Stockton will visit Montclair State for a 3 p.m. contest that is the second game between the teams in six days. The Ospreys defeated the Red Hawks 71-67 on Monday night.
