Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (14-9, 9-8 NJAC) shot a blistering 12-18 (66.7%) from the three-point line in the first half and cruised to an 82-57 victory over Kean University (1-23, 1-16) on Saturday afternoon. All 15 available players saw action and 11 scored in the Ospreys' fifth straight victory. As a team, the Ospreys drained a season-high 14 three-pointers.
The Cougars briefly tied the game at 7-7 with 16:16 left in the first half before Stockton opened up their barrage of threes.
Marcus Harmon (Whitesboro/Middle Twp.) hit three three-pointers and two free throws for 11 points during a 22-4 run that gave the Ospreys an insurmountable 29-11 lead. Harmon later closed the half with another trey in the final seconds that extended the margin to 30 at 48-18.
Harmon scored all of his game-high 18 points in the half. The junior hit on all five of his shots from the field, including 4-4 from behind the arc, and four of five from the foul line.
Brandon Hamilton (Camden/Paulsboro) scored 11 markers on 3-4 from the three-point line.
The Ospreys hit on 16-28 (57.1%) from the floor during the first half. The defense was active as well, holding the visitors to just 29.2% (7-24) shooting in the frame. Stockton increased the lead to as many 44 points at 72-28 with 10:53 remaining in the second half before finishing the contest with the 82-57 victory.
In addition to Harmon, who also led the team with six rebounds, Hamilton finished with 15 points.
Kashaun Barnes (Toms River/Manchester Twp.) scored 10 points and dished a career-high seven assists. Sayvon Johnson (Union City/Union City) sank two three-pointers for six points and tied
Kelvin Tull (Millville/Millville) for the team lead with two steals each.
Micah Kerr and Keenan Williams Jr. were the only Cougars in double figures with 17 and 16 points respectively. Justin Watson pulled down a game-high seven rebounds for Kean.
Stockton will play their final regular season game on Wednesday night when they travel to face New Jersey City. Tipoff is set for 8 pm.
