Stockton Falls 11-9 in First Loss of the Season

Boxscore

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (2-1) surrendered six goals in the second half as Haverford College (2-1) handed the Ospreys their first loss of the season 11-9 on Wednesday night.  Zack Aho (Shamong/Seneca) led seven Ospreys in the scoring column with three goals on the night.

Aho, Jon Liguori (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) and Tommy Gallo (Clinton/North Hunterdon) scored in the first period to offset three scores by the Fords for a 3-3 tie at the end of the frame. The Ospreys forged a 7-5 lead at the break on four tallies to two markers for the visitors.

Goals by Aho, Mike Caposella (Wayne/DePaul Catholic) Colin Shea (Rumson/Rumson-Fair Haven) and freshman Joey Tiernan's (Voorhees/Eastern) first career goal accounted for the four tallies. The outburst gave Stockton a two goal margin at the half.

Stockton went through a scoring drought in the third period, getting just three shots on net, as they were unable to break through for a score. The Fords scored four times to take a 9-7 advantage after three periods.

Brandon Nunez (Freehold/Freehold Twp.) and Aho were able to break the slump with two tallies to tie the game at 9-9 in the final frame, but two goals in the last 5:26 by Haverford sealed the game and set the final score at 11-9.

Aho dished an assist to go with his hat trick, with teammates Gallo, Shea and Nunez tallying a goal and assist each. Goalkeeper Eric Leonard (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) made seven saves in taking the loss.

The Fords were led by Ben Frost with three goals and an assist. Kevin Goshorn and Rob McLallen scored two goals each, as Frost and Goshorn also dished helpers on the evening. Net minder Dylan Slack kicked out 11 Ospreys attempts in garnering the victory.

The Ospreys will finish a three-game home stand on Saturday when they will face Marywood University. Game time is set for 1 pm.
