Stockton Rolls to Fourth Straight Win, 18-4

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (6-1) rolled to an 18-4 victory over Immaculata (0-4) in a game played on a snow-covered field in bitter cold conditions. Mike Caposella (Wayne/DePaul Catholic) led the Ospreys to their fourth straight win with two goals and two assists.
 
Brandon Nunez (Freehold/Freehold Twp.) and Mark Scherzer (Holmdel/Holmdel) each contributed two goals and an assist while Erik Anderson (Monroe Twp./Monroe Twp.) also tallied three points on a goal and two assists. Eleven Ospreys scored at least one goal in the match.
 
Stockton broke out to a 6-0 lead in the first quarter on goals by six different scorers. Caposella and Nunez each registered a goal and an assist in the opening period. The Ospreys equaled their first-quarter total with six more goals in the second stanza. Again, no Osprey scored more than once in the period and Caposella tallied another goal and assist to spark Stockton to a 12-0 lead at halftime.
 
Immaculata got on the board first in the third quarter but Stockton scored twice in the last five minutes of the period for a 14-1 lead after three. Rory Alpaugh (Clinton/North Hunterdon) potted his first marker of the year and Chris Kaczmarski (Somers Point/Mainland) netted a goal in the final minute.
 
Stockton outscored the Mighty Macs 4-3 in the fourth quarter to close out the 18-4 rout. Alpaugh added his second of the game while Anderson scored his first of the night. Freshman Eamon Morley (Glen Rock/Glen Rock) tossed in his first career goal and Mike Drumm (Fairfield/West Essex) connected for his first marker of the season.
 
Starting goalkeeper Justin Ruiz (Holmdel/Holdel) blanked Immaculata in the first half with four saves. Eric Leonard (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) and Steven Pille (Oakland/St. Joseph Regional) each saw action in the second half and made three saves apiece.
 
Brian Shultis scored twice for Immaculata. Might Macs goalie Denton States finished with 14 saves in the game.
 
Stockton will begin Skyline Conference play with a road game at St. Joseph's-Long Island on Friday at 7 p.m.
