Patchogue, NY – Stockton University (7-1, 1-0 Skyline) opened Skyline Conference play with a 19-7 victory over St. Joseph's-LI (3-2, 0-1) that was the fifth straight win for the Ospreys.
Brandon Nunez (Freehold/Freehold Twp.),
Mike Caposella (Wayne/DePaul Catholic) and
Tommy Gallo (Clinton/North Hunterdon) led the Ospreys with three goals and two assists apiece.
Zack Aho (Shamong/Seneca) scored twice and four other Ospreys each added one goal as Stockton built a 6-1 lead in the first quarter. Caposella tallied two goals and an assist in the second period to spark the Ospreys to a 13-2 lead at the half.
The scoring pace slowed in the third quarter as Caposella and
Jamar Hall (Logan Twp./Kingsway) netted the only goals of the period and Stockton extended the lead to 15-2. With the outcome decided, St. Joseph's-LI outscored the Ospreys 5-4 in the fourth period. Freshman
Max Pukenas (Medford/Shawnee) potted his first career goal in the final quarter as Stockton cruised to the 19-7 triumph.
