Stockton Rolls Over Neumann 19-6

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (3-1) scored the first seven goals of the game and rolled to a 19-6 victory over Neumann (0-5) that was the third straight win for the Ospreys. Alexa Rubino (Voorhees/Eastern) led the attack with five goals and an assist.
 
Abbey Yannacone (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) tallied four goals and two assists followed by Mary Schmid (Lumberton/Holy Cross) with four goals and one assist. The Ospreys outshot Neumann 33-15 in the game.
 
Yannacone scored three times and Kristen Russo (Wayne/Wayne Hills) netted two goals as the duo sparked Stockton to a 7-0 lead in the first 15 minutes. Neumann got on the board at the 13:42 mark but freshman Michaella Butrico (South Plainfield/South Plainfield) answered with her first career goal 1:14 later to make it 8-1.
 
Schmid and Rubino each potted two markers as Stockton outscored the Knights 4-1 in the last 10 minutes of the first half for a 12-2 lead at the break. Yannacone assisted on both of Rubino's tallies.
 
Neumann scored three of the first four goals of the second half, with Rubino finding the net for Stockton. The Ospreys then reeled off six consecutive goals, two by Schmid and one each for Rubino, Yannacone, Russo and Butrico, for a 19-5 advantage. A late goal by the Knights made the final score 19-6 as Stockton posted its third straight win.
 
Starting goalkeeper Maura Twiggs (Ocean City/Ocean City) made seven saves in 54:22 to earn the victory. Tamara Torales (Basking Ridge/Ridge) chipped in defensively with a game-high three caused turnovers plus three ground balls.
 
Stockton will wrap up a four-game homestand on Saturday when the Ospreys host Drew University at 1 p.m.
