Stockton Splits with St. Norbert

Game 1 / Game 2

Winter Haven, FL – Stockton University (6-5) split a doubleheader with St. Norbert (4-4), dropping the first game 2-1 but winning the nightcap 11-5. Stephen Edelstein (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) went 5-7 with two RBI and a run in the twinbill.

Edelstein rapped two of Stockton's five hits in the opener but the Ospreys were edged in a pitcher's duel. Dylan Warburton (Sewell/Washington Twp.) tossed another gem but suffered his first defeat of the season. Warburton pitched a five-hitter with four strikeouts.

In the fifth inning, Antonio Morello (Washington Twp./Washington Twp.) singled and later scored on an RBI single by Bryce DiPaola (Eastampton/Rancocas Valley) for a 1-0 lead. St. Norbert tied it in the bottom of the fifth and then manufactured a run on a single, stolen base, wild pitch and bunt single for an RBI in the sixth frame to edge the Ospreys 2-1.

Stockton snapped a three-game skid by exploding for 11 runs in the nightcap. Edelstein went 3-4 with two RBI and a run while DiPaola was 2-3 with three RBI and two runs. Brandon Perna (Cherry Hill/CH West) pitched a complete game, scattering eight hits and fanning seven for the win.

Stockton took the lead at 4-0 with four runs in the second inning. DiPaola and Tyler Hobbs (Brick/Brick Memorial) hit RBI singles before Edelstein added a two-run single. In the third frame, DiPaola singled in two runs and later scored to make it 7-1.

The Ospreys capitalized on three errors to put the game away with four runs in the fourth inning. Joe Pipher (Brick/Brick Memorial) smacked an RBI double and later scored on an RBI single by Morello. Stockton led 11-1 after four innings and won 11-5.
