Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (14-12, 4-4 NJAC) evened its conference record with its second straight doubleheader sweep, taking a pair from Rutgers-Camden (11-15, 3-5) by scores of 7-3 and 12-4.
Holly Arentowicz (Roxbury/Roxbury) blasted a three-run home run in each game and
Carli Shaw (Bordentown/Bordentown) totaled six hits on the day.
In the opener, Arentowicz went 3-4 with a double, homer and five RBI while Shaw was 3-5 with a run.
Hannah Bibeault (Hopatcong/Hopatcong) scattered 10 hits and allowed just one earned run (two unearned) with five strikeouts to earn her seventh win of the season.
Arentowicz doubled in two runs in the top of the third to give Stockton a 2-0 lead but Rutgers-Camden got on the board with a single tally in the bottom half. With the bases loaded in the fifth,
Jessica McDonaugh (Brick/Brick Twp.) earned an RBI with a grounder and freshman
Megan Katzmar (Cinnaminson/Holy Cross) notched her first career RBI by drawing a walk to make it 4-1.
Arentowicz slugged a three-run homer in the sixth frame to extend the lead to 7-1. Rutgers-Camden plated two unearned markers in the bottom of the seventh before Bibeault retired the final batter on a lineout to end the 7-3 triumph.
Freshman
Maggie Klatt (Middletown/Mater Dei) led a 19-hit attack in the nightcap by going 4-5 with a run and an RBI. Shaw,
Alexis Dunphy (Hainesport/Rancocas Valley) and freshman
Ashley Lobell (Cedar Knolls/Whippany Park) stroked three hits apiece.
Klatt led off the second inning with a hit and later scored on a sacrifice fly by
Casey Schieda (Monroe Twp./Monroe Twp.) for the game's first run. Klatt and Lobell rapped consecutive RBI singles with two out in the third inning to up the lead to 3-0. Lobell's RBI was the first of her career.
Alexa Massa (Moorestown/Moorestown) brought home the first of four runs in the fourth frame with an RBI single and Dunphy later singled in two runs. Another RBI single by Lobell gave the Ospreys a commanding 7-1 advantage. Rutgers-Camden scored one run in the fifth and two in the sixth to close the gap to 7-4.
Stockton then exploded for five runs in the seventh inning. Lobell led off with a single and scored on an error two batters later. Schieda followed with her first home run of the season, a solo blast. Singles by Shaw and Massa set the stage for Arentowicz's second three-run homer of the day and fourth long ball of the season to end the scoring at 12-4.
Bibeault came out of the bullpen and pitched a scoreless bottom of the seventh to close the game for winning pitcher
Victoria Torp (West Milford/West Milford), who went to 7-6 on the season.
Stockton will host Montclair State in an NJAC doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m.
