Union, NJ – Stockton University (14-2, 7-1 Skyline) clinched second place in the Skyline Conference and a first-round bye in the league tournament with a 17-9 victory over Kean University (8-6, 5-3).
Mike Caposella (Wayne/DePaul Catholic) scored a game-high five goals and reached the 100-goal mark for his career.
Tommy Gallo (Clinton/North Hunterdon) tallied seven points on three goals and four assists followed by
Zack Aho (Shamong/Seneca) with three goals and two assists. The Ospreys extended their winning streak to five with the triumph.
After Aho scored the first goal of the night, Caposella hit the century mark 1:17 later, becoming the 10th player in school history to reach the milestone. He followed with another marker 1:11 after for a 3-0 lead. Kean potted the next two goals and trimmed the advantage to 3-2 after one quarter.
The teams exchanged goals early in the second period, with
Joey Tiernan (Voorhees/Eastern) hitting the net for Stockton. Leading 4-3, the Ospreys broke the game open with four straight tallies. Gallo netted two markers while Tiernan and
Colin Shea (Rumson/Rumson-Fair Haven) added one apiece. The Cougars cut into the margin with two late goals and Stockton settled for an 8-5 lead at the half.
Stockton pulled away with a 5-2 third quarter on counters by five different players. Caposella, Shea, Aho,
Erik Anderson (Monroe Twp./Monroe Twp.) and
Chris Kaczmarski (Somers Point/Mainland) were the scorers on the way to a 13-7 advantage after three.
Kean scored a pair 25 seconds apart to make it 13-9 early in the fourth stanza before Stockton sealed the win with the last four tallies of the game. Caposella capped his big night with two more goals while Gallo and Aho each tossed in one as the Ospreys cruised to the 17-9 victory.

Justin Ruiz (Holmdel/Holmdel) earned the win with 17 saves, his fourth straight game and fifth in the last six with at least 15 stops.
Shane Park (Kinnelon/Kinnelon) chipped in defensively with three caused turnovers and two ground balls.
Stockton will conclude the regular season with a Skyline Conference home game against Mount St. Mary (NY) on Saturday at 7 p.m. The match will be played in G. Larry James Stadium instead of the usual Stockton Turf Field, and the Ospreys would tie last year's school record of 15 wins with a victory.
