Camden, NJ – Stockton University (9-2, 3-1 NJAC) broke open a close game with 12 goals in the second half and defeated Rutgers-Camden (4-8, 0-3) by an 18-10 score. The Ospreys scored seven times in the last 11 minutes to put the game away.
Mary Schmid (Lumberton/Holy Cross) sparked Stockton with six goals and two assists for eight points.
Abbey Yannacone (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) chipped in with five goals and one assist followed by
Kristen Russo (Wayne/Wayne Hills) with four goals and two assists. Yannacone also snagged a game-high four draw controls.
Rutgers-Camden scored the first two goals of a tight first half highlighted by four ties. Stockton surged ahead 3-2 with three straight markers, one by Schmid and then two by Yannacone. After the Scarlet Raptors tied it 3-3, Russo put the Ospreys in front 4-3. Rutgers-Camden regained the lead with two goals in a row before Schmid scored twice in the last 2:15 for a 6-5 Stockton edge at the break.
Rutgers-Camden forged a 6-6 deadlock 53 seconds into the second half but then Schmid gave Stockton a 7-6 lead. The last tie came at 7-7 on a Scarlet Raptors' tally at the 25:50 mark. Schmid put the Ospreys ahead for good and
Kelsey Perst (Blairstown/North Warren) followed 50 seconds later to make it 9-7. Rutgers-Camden got one back, however Russo and Yannacone extended the lead to 11-8.
The Scarlet Raptors scored next, but Russo, Yannacone and Schmid found the net during a game-clinching, three-goal run that increased the lead to 14-9. Stockton later potted four straight in the last six minutes with Yannacone, Russo,
Melanie Patterson (Jackson/Jackson Liberty) and
Alexa Rubino (Voorhees/Eastern) striking to seal the 18-10 triumph.

Maura Twiggs (Ocean City/Ocean City) finished with seven saves in the win.
Melanie Iatarola (Sewell/Washington Twp.) contributed five ground balls and four caused turnovers.
Stockton will have a quick turnaround and be back on the field on Friday afternoon for a home game against Montclair State at 4 p.m.
