Ewing, NJ – Stockton University (9-4, 3-3 NJAC) faced its stiffest test of the season in its last conference game of the year. The Ospreys were blanked 13-0 by The College of New Jersey (12-1, 5-0) which is ranked #1 in the nation by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA).
Amanda Scarpa (Manalapan/Freehold Twp.) scooped a team-high three ground balls and registered one caused turnover.
Alexa Rubino (Voorhees/Eastern) tallied two ground balls, one caused turnover and one draw control. The Lions outshot Stockton 28-4, with
Mary Schmid (Lumberton/Holy Cross) firing two tries for the Ospreys.
After nearly five scoreless minutes to start the game, TCNJ reeled off four goals in 4:46 for a 4-0 lead. Stockton surrendered four more markers in the half and trailed 8-0 at the break. The Ospreys did not register a shot in the stanza while the Lions fired 20 attempts. Stockton goalkeeper
Maura Twiggs (Ocean City/Ocean City) made seven of her eight saves in the first half.
TCNJ scored twice in the first five minutes of the second half and added three more goals in the last 10 minutes for the 13-0 final. All four of Stockton's shots came after the break, including one on goal, but none found the net. The Ospreys were blanked for just the second time in 63 games since the program's inception four years ago.
Stockton will conclude the regular season with a non-conference game at Scranton on Saturday at 3 p.m.
