Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (7-1, 1-0 NJAC) opened New Jersey Athletic Conference play with an 11-6 victory over Ramapo (5-5, 0-1) that was the seventh straight win for the Ospreys. Stockton scored the first four goals of the game and led by at least three the rest of the way.
Mary Schmid (Lumberton/Holy Cross) led the Ospreys with three goals followed by
Kim Raichelson (Brick/Brick Memorial) and
Alexa Rubino (Voorhees/Eastern) with two markers apiece. Rubino also led all players with five draw controls.
Kristen Russo (Wayne/Wayne Hills) opened the scoring 1:34 into the game with the first of four straight tallies by the Ospreys. Raichelson scored next, followed by Rubino 1:15 later. Schmid struck next for her first of the game and the lead was 4-0 with less than 12 minutes gone.
After Katie Duca got Ramapo on the board, Stockton reeled off three more goals.
Melanie Patterson (Jackson/Jackson Liberty) started the run and then
Abbey Yannacone (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) and Schmid found the net to increase the advantage to 7-1. Ramapo then scored twice in the last two minutes of the half to make it 7-3 at the break.
Rubino got the scoring started in the second half but Brianna Himpele answered just 16 seconds later for Ramapo. Schmid potted her third of the day with 22:53 remaining and neither team scored for over 12 minutes.
Kelsey Perst (Blairstown/North Warren) ended the drought for a 10-4 Stockton lead with 10:27 to play.
Ramapo scored twice in 26 seconds to get within 10-6 with 4:35 on the clock but the Stockton defense clamped down from there. Raichelson later capped the 11-6 win by netting her second goal of the game in the final minute.

Maura Twiggs (Ocean City/Ocean City) made six saves in the win. Nicole Jaskot led Ramapo with two goals. Keeper Monca Bubello came off the bench to make eight saves for the Roadrunners in the last 39:54 of play.
Stockton will play next at Rowan University on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
