Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (1-0) scored three times in the first half and cruised to a 7-2 victory over Arcadia (0-1) on Friday night.
Alexa Massa (Moorestown/Moorestown) notched a hat trick to lead the Ospreys as they began the 2017 season on a high note. The seven-goal outburst was the most since an 8-0 victory in 2014.

Britney Stein (Ocean City/Ocean City) wasted no time in garnering her first career goal as she broke the scoreless affair 18:06 into the contest. Stein tapped in a pass from
Leah Davies (Ocean City/Ocean City) for a 1-0 lead. Only 2:20 later, Massa tallied her first of the evening on a penalty stroke for a 2-0 margin.

The Knights cut the lead in half on a Gabby Sedares score at 24:02. Her marker from the left side off a pass from Sydney Cyr made it 2-1 in favor of Stockton. With just over five minutes to play in the half, Massa struck again on a nice give-and-go from
Sarah Gawrysiak (Haddon Twp./Haddon Twp.), for the 3-1 lead at the break.

Stockton kept the pressure on, scoring 2:07 into the second stanza as
Sarah Fisher (Monroeville/Woodstown) hit the back of the cage unassisted for a 4-1 advantage. Sophomore
Jennelle Long (Matawan/Matawan) stretched the lead to 5-1 on an assist from
Jacquie Fenton (Ocean City/Ocean City) at 45:30.

Stockton kept rolling as Massa and Gawrysiak combined again on the third goal of the night for Massa. Another give-and-go off a corner gave Stockton a commanding 6-1 lead that would not be threatened. Massa's trio of markers moved her into ninth place all-time for the Ospreys with 13 goals.

Arcadia tallied one more time, on an unassisted score by Lindsay Bechtold with under 11 minutes to play but
Emily McNeill (Blackwood/Paul VI) potted a rebound to put the lead back at five with her first goal of the season to set the final score at 7-2.

Emily Sorochynskyj (Boonton/Boonton) earned her first win of the year, kicking out five shots for Stockton in net. Maya Stern started in net for the Knights, playing the first 46 minutes making three saves. Ashton Evans relieved her and finished up the last 25 minutes with one save.

The Ospreys will play the first of three straight road contests when they will travel to Elizabethtown for a non-conference matchup on Sunday. Game time is set for 1 pm.
