Madison, NJ – Stockton University (1-0) opened the 2017 season in fine fashion with a 2-0 victory over FDU-Florham (0-1) on Friday afternoon.
Nick Cristea (Medford/Shawnee) scored a goal and added an assist to lead the Ospreys.

Stockton opened the scoring in the first half as
Eucario Solano (Galloway/Absegami) scored his first career goal at Stockton in the 13th minute on an assist by Cristea for a 1-0 lead. Cristea won a ball near the top of the box and found Solano. His shot beat the keeper to the far right for the 1-0 advantage.

Cristea then added an insurance marker at 83:08 to salt the game away.
Justin Ruiz (Wayne/Wayne Hills) sent Cristea in alone and his blast from the top of the box found the bottom right corner for the 2-0 margin.

Cristea led the squad with three shots on the day, followed by
TomTom Johnson (Trenton/Trenton Catholic) with two attempts.Â
Kellen Groover (Florence/Life Center Academy) had a day of firsts in net. Groover earned his first career shutout and victory in his first game at Stockton, kicking out six shots by the Devils.

John Timmes led the home team with three of the 10 shots that FDU-Florham squeezed off on the afternoon. JT Bretschneider took the loss in net for the Devils, making one save.

Stockton will return to Galloway tomorrow for their home opener against Immaculata. Game time is 3 pm.
