Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (3-2) took the lead early and cruised to a 3-0 victory over Wesley (0-4) in the second of three straight home games for the Ospreys.
Alexa Massa (Moorestown/Moorestown) and
Sarah Fisher (Monroeville/Woodstown) led the way with a goal and an assist apiece.
Stockton struck early, taking the lead just 1:54 into the game. After a penalty corner insert by
Victoria Caiazzo (Manahawkin/Southern Regional), Massa and
Sarah Gawrysiak (Haddon Twp./Haddon Twp.) ran a nifty give-and-go that resulted in a shot by Massa that was tipped in by Fisher.
Caiazzo, the reigning NJAC Defensive Player of the Week, later made a defensive save for the second straight game to keep Wesley off the board.
The Ospreys added an insurance goal late in the first half with 6:32 remaining. Freshman
Britney Stein (Ocean City/Ocean City) stole the ball from a Wesley defender on the left side of the arc, stickhandled to the middle and fired a shot into the cage for her second goal of the season and a 2-0 advantage.
Massa notched her sixth counter of the season 7:05 into the second half. Fisher assisted on the tally, passing the ball from the right side to Massa in front, where she shoveled it home for a 3-0 count.
The Ospreys doubled Wesley 12-6 in shots and 10-5 in corners. Starting goalkeeper
Emily Gilligan (West Deptford/West Deptford) earned the win without needing to make a save in 55:13.
Niya Calloway (Matawan/Matawan) registered three stops in the last 14:47 to complete the shutout. Sidney Knott finished with five saves for Wesley, including one on a penalty stroke.
Stockton concludes its three-game homestand on Saturday when the Ospreys host Eastern University at 1 pm.
