Stockton Overwhelms Golden Eagles 3-0

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (3-3) scored three times and dominated St. Joseph's-LI by a 3-0 final on Thursday night. Lindsey Thomas (Swedesboro/Kingsway), Abbey Yannacone (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) and freshman Salena LeDonne (Parsippany/Parsippany) tallied markers for Stockton. LeDonne's tally was her first career goal.

The Stockton defense held the Golden Eagles to just one shot for the game. Thomas got the scoring underway when she tapped in a crossing pass from Emily Frazee (Port Republic/Cedar Creek) for a 1-0 lead at 9:34 of the first half. Yannacone potted her first goal of the season with a nice spinning kick with 1:21 left in the stanza. Her goal gave the Ospreys a 2-0 margin.

In the 64th minute, LeDonne worked her way loose in the front of the St. Joseph's net. Her shot deflected off a defender and into the twine for her first collegiate tally and a 3-0 advantage. That would be all the scoring on the evening. Stockton used 29 of its 30 available players for the game.

Stockton goalkeeper Nicole Pallante (Brick/Brick Twp.) made one save in playing the first 76:39 of the contest before giving way to Morgan Fair (Crownsville, MD/North County). The senior played the final 13:21 to complete the combined shutout for Stockton. Juliana Cintron-Leonardo made six saves in net for the Golden Eagles as Stockton outshot the visitors by an 11-1 margin and held an 8-1 advantage on corner kicks.

Stockton will begin conference play on Saturday, when they face NJAC foe Kean University. The game will be played in Union, NJ and is set for 5 pm.
