Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (11-6) notched a pair of victories in a home tri-match that was highlighted by milestones for two individuals.
Stephanie Kovacs (Allentown, PA/Central Catholic) reached the 1,000-kill mark for her career and head coach
Allison Walker collected her 300th win.
Stockton won the opening match of the day 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 25-17) over Farmingdale State (7-7) and then swept Franklin & Marshall (10-6) 3-0 (25-15-25-22, 25-21) for Walker's victory number 300.
Kovacs started the day with 999 kills and wasted little time getting to 1,000 as she spiked the fourth point of the match. The senior became the 14th player to get her 1,000th kill in a Stockton uniform. Kovacs finished with a match-high 14 kills followed by
Sarah Walsh (Flemington/Hunterdon Central) with eight kills and three blocks.
Emily Sullivan (Bridgewater/Bridgewater-Raritan) dished 18 assists and
Alice Brandt (Floral Park, NY/floral Park) handed out 12 helpers.
Natalie Miller (Pittsburgh, PA/Thomas Jefferson) and
Erin Thompson (Mays Landing/Oakcrest) paced the defense with 12 and 11 digs respectively.
Walsh powered the Ospreys past Franklin & Marshall with a match-high 10 kills and Kovacs contributed eight kills. Sullivan tallied a double-double of 18 assists and 10 digs, and also served three aces. Miller led all players with 14 digs while Brandt chipped in with nine digs and eight assists. The victory gave Walker a career record of 300-111 (.730 winning percentage) in her 12th year at Stockton.
The Ospreys will wrap up a five-match homestand on Tuesday when they host William Paterson in an NJAC tilt at 7 pm.
